Get in the holiday spirit with the Tinsel Toes 5K!
The Tinsel Toes 5K will start at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, with the start and finish line at Full Blast.
Anyone can attend the event as it is open to the public. The cost is $35 per person, and included in the entrance fee is a long-sleeve shirt.
The Tinsel Toes 5K is focused on creating a fun, family-friendly environment for participants of all ages. The event happens at the same time as the Battle Creek Festival of Lights, therefore the course is full of lights and lit-up displays themed around Christmas and the holidays.
As the 5K is not timed, there are no prizes for placed finishes. In place of those awards, there are ugly sweater competitions. Prizes are given out for multiple categories including ugliest sweater, most lit-up, most festive and most festive group. Proceeds will go to Girls on the Run of Calhoun County.
Nikki Elder, of Cereal City Athletics, which is hosting the event, said it’s structured around the organization’s mission. “[Our mission is] to build an active community through promoting healthy lifestyles with a sense of adventure. We believe when families have fun being active together, that they continue to seek opportunities to live an active lifestyle,” Elder said.
