The class will take place Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. at New Holland’s Battle Creek location at 64 W. Michigan Ave. Tickets are $54 and the event is for ages 21 and up.

New Holland hosts numerous cocktail classes monthly, and this class is just in time to get everyone in the spirits, literally and figuratively, for the Halloween season.

Bartender Catherine Magnusson has been bartending at New Holland since its opening in April 2023. She has taught countless cocktail classes at New Holland including the Haunted Spirits Cocktail Class, and it’s known as a favorite among regulars.

The class will include different activities, such as making spooky Halloween-themed cocktails, take-home recipes, and a costume contest. However, class members can expect to take home much more than just that.

“My hope is that their response to the class is not only that they learn something new but can create savored moments and make a new friend with someone in the class,” Magnusson said.

Taking home friends, moments and memories is something that all can look forward to while participating in this class. Magnusson will leave the list of drinks as a surprise for now, but it may help brainstorm new ideas for cocktail parties at home.

“I am also always looking forward to making new friends and seeing people try something new that they may have never tried before. Some of the cocktails we make are cocktails that someone may have never thought to try before but end up really enjoying them,” Magnusson said.

With the help of Magnusson and New Holland’s cocktail program, the people, family, and friends of Battle Creek can start to mark the date in their calendar for an unforgettable night.

“I truly think it is a great event that enriches the community. It creates a meeting place for people who consider cocktail making and spirits a hobby, and that’s something I don’t think Battle Creek has ever had before,” Magnusson said.
