At the Crossroads, a chapter of the Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force, will present a free documentary and panel discussion at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Binda Performing Arts Center.
The documentary, “Sands of Silence,” follows sexual exploitation and trafficking from Asia to the Americas. After the screening, a panel will be available to answer questions and give information about human trafficking in Michigan.
January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and this event is aimed at bringing awareness to the reality of human trafficking in Michigan and what citizens can do to help.
“It seems far away, but it’s happening in this county and we are actively working against it,” said Battle Creek Police Chief Deputy Jim Grafton. “Law enforcement can only do so much. People who are aware and observant can help us immensely in the fight against human trafficking.”
This event is open to the public.
