Leila Arboretum will be hosting Battle Creek Pumpkinfest this month in Battle Creek.
The Halloween event will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the arboretum, located at 928 Michigan Ave. W.
The event is free and open to the public and will include trick-or-treating, a hayride, crafts, music, adult pumpkin chucking and a magician. It is the second year holding this event, and they anticipate even more people to attend this year than last.
Both adults and children are encouraged to join in on the fun.
Rhonda Ostrander-Cook, executive director of Community Inclusive Recreation and an organizer of the event, stated that the first year was a great success.
“It is appropriate and encouraged to dress up in costume,” Ostrander-Cook said. “There will be both children’s and adult costume contest at 5 p.m.”
Ostrander also stated that the event intends to provide cloth bags that have a designated area to decorate, but it doesn’t hurt to bring your own. She also explained that there are permanent port-o-potties in the children’s garden and two additional ones closer to the vendor area.
