Want an excuse to spice up your profile picture on your social media accounts?
Well, Party with Your Bear Day is just the thing for you! The event, during which attendees can take a photo with KCC mascot Blaze, is happening from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the Student Center on campus at 450 North Ave. The event is free and open to all students.
A national organization called The Teddy Bear Collectors Club made Party with Your Bear Day a national holiday on Nov. 16, 1996, to celebrate the bond a child has with their teddy bear companion.
Event coordinator and KCC Student Life Director Kirstin McDermott said KCC wanted to take their own spin on this tradition given that their mascot is a bear.
“At KCC we celebrate by inviting everyone’s favorite Bruin, Blaze, out to our Student Center to snap a photo with you,” McDermott said. “We’ll have some photo props and music, and you’ll get a fierce new profile picture for your socials.”
