Marshall’s Great Escape Stage Company will hold the George Shaw One-Act Festival in February 2025.
Audition dates are approaching if you wish to be a part of the cast. There are 24 roles across the five one-act plays, but some actors may be cast in multiple roles. Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10 at the theater, located at 110 E. Michigan Ave. in Marshall, Michigan.
Performance dates for the festival are February 13, 15, 16 and 21 through 23, with showtimes at 7 p.m. and 3 p.m. for the Sunday matinee at Great Escape Stage Company. All are invited to attend the festival.
The festival will include three different sessions:
- Session One: Village Wooing. A charming tale of romance and the dynamics of courtship with Shaw’s sharp humor shining through.
- Session Two: The Dark Lady of the Sonnets and The Music Cure. An exploration of love, inspiration and the essence of healing with Shakespearean enchantment.
- Session Three: Overruled and Passion, Poison and Petrifaction. A combination of wit and wisdom with Shaw’s incisive critiques on relationships and the intricacies of human nature.
Great Escape Special Events Coordinator Kim Forde said the festival promises an unforgettable celebration of theater, laughter and insight.
“Whether you’re a lifelong fan of Shaw or new to his genius,” Forde said, “gather your friends and family for a memorable weekend of enthralling performances and join us in honoring one of the most influential playwrights in history.”
Tickets for the festival will go on sale after the first of the year. Questions can be directed to GESCmarshall@gmail.com.
