A new bakery is opening its doors right downtown at BC Cargo, a small-business incubator composed of seven storefronts.
JJ’s Sweet Treats, composed of baking duo and co-owners Jordan and Christrina Edwards, has been operating for two years and is finally opening a physical bakery. Inspired at the ripe age of 13 after attending a young entrepreneurship program at a local library, Jordan Edwards came up with JJ’s Sweet Treats, and two years later he’s turned a dream into a successful business.
“Opening a bakery has been a dream of mine ever since I was about 7 years old,” Jordan Edwards said.
The new bakery will have a menu with a wide variety of different pastries, including macarons, cupcakes, specialty cakes and cookies. The Edwards will also offer vegan options, like gluten-free matcha energy bars and almond energy bars.
“We will be expanding our menu further at BC Cargo and diversifying from what is the norm,” Jordan Edwards said. “We want to bring something that doesn’t currently exist in our area.”
JJ’s Sweet Treats will have its grand opening from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 1 in the BC Cargo space at 35 W. Hamblin Ave. The event will feature door prizes, great treats, community networking and more.
