Kellogg Community College students will have a chance to travel to Europe this summer to visit World War II sites as part of an international travel course. The trip will run from July 25 to Aug. 4.
The total cost of the trip is $3,200, and students who take the trip as part of their studies will earn three college credits. A $350 deposit is due on March 25.
Space is limited, so spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
KCC History Professor Michelle Wright, who coordinates KCC’s international travel trips, said this will be KCC’s fourth WWII trip to Europe.
“This will be the 75th anniversary of the D-Day battles, and it seemed appropriate to take advantage of the timing,” Wright said.
Wright said the previous WWII trips have been meaningful and served a lot of purpose for KCC students and other attendees.
Wright is a strong advocate for KCC’s short-term study abroad program.
“It is a great opportunity to introduce the world to students,” she said. “Students who may never have left Michigan can travel halfway around the world with other students and faculty experienced in facilitating these programs.”
KCC student and Bruin News editor Sarah Hubbard participated in KCC’s fall trip to Greece.
“I loved going on the study abroad trip to Greece,” Hubbard said. “Studying abroad with KCC was such a great learning experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.”
