Students interested in continuing their education after Kellogg Community College have the opportunity to visit three four-year institutions in the upcoming weeks.
The three free visits are to Grand Valley State University on Oct. 19, Western Michigan University on Oct. 26 and Michigan State University on Nov. 9. Each of the visits will feature a presentation from college admissions, a campus tour and a free lunch (students attending the visit to MSU will have lunch at KCC).
Students will leave KCC anywhere from 8 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and arrive back either at approximately 1 p.m. or 2:45 p.m. (the later time is for the GVSU visit).
Academic Advisor Caleb Ausbury thinks the transfer visits are a great opportunity for students.
“It can get the students thinking about their four-year college,” Ausbury said. “Those institutions have a different feel, a different culture, than a community college likes ours does. Visiting will help students know what will work best for them.”
Ausbury also said that students are able to find out admissions criteria through these visits, allowing them time to prepare.
If a student is unable to attend, there is at least one transfer visit to WMU every year in the fall (the other colleges can change) and occasionally there is one in the spring as well.
